FIRST IMPRESSIONS: TARTE COSMETICS BB PERFECTING LIQUID FOUNDATION WITH BRUSH REVIEW
10:02
Hey everyone,
So I desperately needed a new foundation as my Estee Lauder double wear foundation ran out! I just happened to be watching TV (never watch TV anymore!) and decided click on QVC as Tarte Cosmetics was being advertised. And yes of course, I got sucked righttttt in! I have heard of Tarte Cosmetics before but unfortunately they only sell their makeup products in the US. THANKFULLY they were selling to the UK on QVC! (I was very happy) I knew Tarte as a makeup brand who create their makeup products from great ingredients and who don't test on animals. The foundation was the first product they talked about on the show and I gotta say, it looked amazing on the models. I was due a new foundation AND a foundation brush so it seemed like fate!
They described the BB Perfecting Liquid Foundation like a BB cream but with coverage! Though it is still a foundation, it has all the benefits of a BB cream. Tarte also said that their company believes in selling their brushes along with their products as they feel like you need the right equipment to deliver the best results! I very much agree with this. I feel like there is no point having amazing, expensive makeup products without having great makeup brushes used for applying it! Your makeup will apply more flawlessly and easily. I gotta say, it is more fun to apply makeup when you are enjoying using soft, pretty, great-at-their-job brushes. So! Onto the review!

The Foundation:
So far I have used the foundation about 4 times. I bought the shade "Light" which is a perfect match for my skin colour. This is the second lightest colour, so yes, there is an even more lighter colour for all you pale skinned ladies! This is definitely one of the good points about this foundation.
I dotted the foundation onto my face then blended in a downward brushstroke motion (just like they did on QVC) I immediately noticed that I needed more product as I wasn't giving me enough coverage, so i applied a little bit more. Once I finished, I could definitely tell that it wasnt a high coverage foundation. I was kinda expecting this as I wanted a light weight foundation but to be honest, it looked so much more high coverage on the models on QVC! (the sad truth) It was just too good to be true!
My worst problem with this foundation is when I build this product onto my face, it feels very sticky and comfortable, but this only lasts about 10 minutes. I was disappointed by this as I like to build a little coverage on some acne scars that I have. Sometimes, in fact, ALL THE TIME I hate the feeling of wearing foundation, especially in the morning. So DO NOT BUILD THIS PRODUCT! Another disappointing point was that it isn't long lasting. It probably lasts about 4 hours then it looks like I have no makeup on.
Ok, so that's all my bad points! The good points about this foundation was that it contains really fancy ingredients. I don't know what half of them mean (like everyone) but Tarte are known for their great ingredients that are beneficial to the skin. The second good thing about this product is when you apply a small amount it feels great (but not that much coverage) It gives a lovely glow to my skin and doesn't look as if I have caked it on!
As you can probably guess already, this product just wasn't made for me! I would recommend trying if you already have great skin and want a light/medium coverage! Although, I don't recommend this product if you have oily skin as it does give a shiny glow to the skin. Personally, I loved this as my skin is very dry!

The Brush:
So far I have used the brush once, and there is a reason for that. Bare in mind that I haven't used it for any other foundation yet so it may work better with another foundation.
Straight to the point, I just didn't feel like it blended that easily over my face! And I do think this was because of the brush, not the foundation. I much prefer using my Real Techniques beauty blender sponge with this foundation (with all foundations in fact), but that's just me. To be honest, thats all I can really say about the brush so far as i've only used it once! (although it is very soft!)
The foundation on my skin! The first time I tried it using the brush (No lipstick and lipstick)
How it covers my acne scars on my cheek. I do not recommend this product if you want a high coverage foundation to cover these imperfections.
Overall, I won't be returning this product, but i won't be buying it again either! This product would be great for women who have normal/dry skin, with a few spots here and there that you could cover with your concealer. To me, it is just like BB cream, not a foundation. I will still use it and wear it on the days I don't want to wear high coverage makeup! It's always good to have those light weight products. The great thing about this product is that it gives me a lovely glow and I look healthy. This product would be great in the summer too because I hate wearing foundation in the summer! I just wouldn't apply a lot of it on my face as it starts to feel very heavy, sticky and uncomfortable (urghh hate that feeling!)
Hope this helped some of you!
